Molex Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) Cable Reels enable field termination and simplify identification during installation and maintenance
Molex offers a wide range of simplex and duplex step-index Plastic Optical Fiber (POF).Over decades this very high performance and cost effective fiber polymer technology (PMMA polymethylmethacrylate) for both cable core and cladding has gained acceptance in many applications due to the benefits over copper solutions.By using Plastic Optical Fiber, customers eliminate EMC and EMI issues in industrial applications. While copper may generate Electromagnetics noise in the environment, POF cables are immune to EM interferences and do not radiate EM noise; neither emitting nor receiving such signals. Therefore crosstalk between lines is avoided and clear signals are available over time.Molex also offers bus cables with POF elements (2, 6, and 8) stranded in one layer, as well as specific POF cables for fieldbuses (Sercos).Specific POF cable designs are possible to meet customer needs.
